Center for Autism Research reps visit civic group

Center for Autism Research representatives Julianne Fretz and Jennifer Maldarelli last week spoke to members of the Take Back Your Neighborhood civic association.

The center, based at 3535 Market St., is affiliated with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania.

In other news from the March 16 meeting:

• Neighbors offered numerous suggestions to an aide to City Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez about the planned upgrades to Max Myers Playground.

• Rhawnhurst NORC will hold its annual spring cleaning day on Sunday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Volunteers will help senior citizens by cleaning yards, replacing smoke alarm batteries and light bulbs, removing winter weather stripping, flipping mattresses and placing window air conditioners.

• Jared Solomon, president of the civic association, has helped arrange for Eagles Youth Partnership to build a playground at Spruance Elementary School. Community members will help in the build, which will take place on April 22.

• United Friends Soccer Club will start its season on Saturday, April 18, at Max Myers Playground, 1601 Hellerman St.
